After placing 3rd last year, the boys of Lawrenceville sweep the NJ State Prep Championship scoring 128 points, with Seton Hall Prep in 2nd with 82, and SBP in 3rd with 56. Also on the girl's side, Lawrenceville placed 1st with 75, Peddie in 2nd with 36, and Villa Walsh in 3rd with 35. The stars of the day were Seton Hall Prep sprinter Clayton Parros and Hun sprinter Yamira Bell. Both athletes swept the sprints, winning the 55M Dash, 200M , and 400M events. The UNC-bound Parros ran 6.54 in the 55M Dash, 22.92 in the 200M, and a convincing 48.80 in the 400. Columbia Univeristy's top recruit Bell posted 7.39 in the 55M Dash, 26.23 in the 200M, and established a new meet record of 57.43 in the 400.
Under the radar, several underclassmen also posted some pretty impressive marks as well. Lawrenceville junior Rob Harwood won the 800M in 1:57.53, while teammate and junior shot-putter Kadeem Lyttle threw 47-11 3/4. SBP junior and Jamaican-native Leighton Smith placed 2nd behind Parros in the 400 with a time of 50.50. - - JB3
