Akon To Perfrom At UPenn's Spring Fling

Today, the Daily Pennsylvanian announced that Akon will headline this year's Spring Fling concert on April 17th at The University of Pennsylvania. With events attracting thousands of Philadelphia college students, Spring Fling is considered Penn's biggest social weekends of the year. The student group SPEC, who has brought Wale, Ryan Leslie, Ludacris, and Gym Class Heroes to Penn in the past, confirmed rumors that Akon would be one of this year's performers.

I guess it's exciting to know that Akon will be one of this year's Spring Fling performers. It could be worse -- if it was Chingy, we'd have a problem. Definitely a lot of props go out to the whole SPEC organization for being able to sign Akon on for a show. At the end of the day, they have to make sure whoever they get has mass appeal to all audiences and will be able to sell out Franklin Field.

But I have to question -- Can Akon give a concert by himself? We all know he's been on everyone's song, adding a catchy hook every now and then. But, when is the last time Akon had a banger? I have to admit, I did not hear his latest album Freedom, so I'm not going to bash Akon yet. But, I can't think of a good JUST Akon song. PLUS, wasn't Akon the same dude who threw a fan off stage during a concert AND got a lapdance from a teenage girl during a show in Trinidad? LMAO! It'll be interesting to see what he has is store for his live show at Penn. Let's get it Akon....
